CG method children

Help, my child has curls, but won't sit still for the CG method! This is a common statement in CG-land. Children will be children and they (usually) don't like to sit still. We don't claim to have the holy grail to keep your child's hair in good shape all day long, but who knows, the following tips and ideas may help you on your way. First of all, there is absolutely no need to stuff your little one's hair with all kinds of products. A simple routine is more than enough.
For convenience we can divide it into the following age categories:

0 to about 2 years:

For this age I would say, try to use as little sunscreen as possible.
It is also really not necessary to apply a whole routine. It is enough to wash the hair with water.

If the hair is really dirty, for example from food that has been smeared on it, you could wash it with a mild shampoo.

2 to 7 years:

For this age you could use a CG Shampoo and conditioner.
If desired, you can leave the conditioner in a little longer for a little extra nourishment!

I also like to use a little bit of leave-in in my daughter's hair to make it easier to comb through! If you want to use a styling product, you could look at the Curly Star gel or make your own flaxseed gel!

7 to 12 years:

You can extend the routine with a deepco/mask.
This doesn't have to be weekly of course, but maybe once a month and whenever you feel like it! Also fun to do together!

From 12 years:

From this age, you can use the same products that you use as an adult.

Ever heard of the Olivia Garden Finger Brush?

This brush will make a big difference in combing the hair. Tangles are brushed out easily and painlessly! Ideal!

For example, also take a look at the products from Curly Star! These products are made by Pretty Curly Girl and come with and without perfume !

Okay, you've got the routine down.
Then comes the biggest challenge: the execution!
We have written down a few tips (with a little wink) for you:

  • There are foam puzzles for sale that stick well to tiles. An ideal activity while washing your hair!
  • Making music with your body: did you know that your legs sound completely different when you tap/hit them than your stomach? Make a nice melody out of it. What does your hair sound like? Does it sound different with shampoo in your hair? Under the motto: “killing two birds with one stone…”
  • “I’m going on vacation and I’m taking with me” – the shower version. Take turns tapping a tile. The first person taps one tile, the next person adds a tile. How long can you hold out?

You probably don't need a lot of styling for kids, but if you do want to put something in them after showering, the following tips will help you keep them in for those few minutes:

  • Coloring: many children love a coloring page with all kinds of beautiful colors. So simple, but so effective. We have a beautiful curls coloring page especially for children under the heading ' downloads '!
  • “I’m going on a trip and I’m taking…” A simple game, but so much fun! Say “I’m going on a trip and I’m taking…”. Name something you’re taking. The next person repeats the sentence, repeats the item you named and adds something to it. Who makes the longest series?
  • Are your kids old enough? Let them help with the routine. Give them a drop of leave-in and let them apply it themselves. That way they will be just as proud of their curls as you are.

HELP! Lice!

Here are some tips!

  • The best thing is still combing. Comb, comb and comb again. For at least 2 weeks, every day. Use a lice comb for this and a lot of conditioner in the hair. This makes it easier to get through and the hair breaks off less quickly!
  • Lice hate tea tree. You can add drops of tea tree oil to the products you use or possibly a drop in the neck. This works mainly preventatively.
  • It seems that lice come loose with apple cider vinegar. Dilute the apple cider vinegar with water and let it work for a while. Then you use conditioner in the hair again to comb with the lice comb.
  • There is a CG shampoo specifically for/preventing lice. That is Little Green Lice Guard Shampoo. It contains ingredients that lice do not like. Be sure to read the information with the product!
  • Sounds really gross but you could rub your hair with mayonnaise. This suffocates the lice. Let it work and rinse it thoroughly afterwards. And comb it through again. You can also do this with olive oil!

Below are some more tips for securing your hair:

- The Invisibobble elastics are ideal and available in different sizes.
- These “telephone cords” stay in place well, but do not completely remove the curls from the hair.
- By the way, this brand also has headbands.
- The “bunstar” can easily be twisted into the hair to create a bun, ideal!

I'd like to end with the words of the Frozen heroine, Elsa: “Let it go!”
They still have plenty of time to perfect their curls.

And let's be honest: those sagging tails and curls are quite cute to see after a day of busy playing...
