Curly hair tools

Besides the CG products, many curlies use different accessories. And how nice is it to have a list of all kinds of accessories that you can use during your CG journey?

To sleep

Do you wake up in the morning with a ball of frizz on your head? That can be better! With the following accessories you will still have a nice head of curls the next morning.

Satin pillowcase

You probably sleep on a cotton pillowcase right now. The downside of cotton is that it is quite rough. You guessed it: your curls don't like that. Cotton is also known to pull moisture out of your hair. Curls are naturally drier than straight hair, so that's another reason to put your cotton pillowcase in the closet. Better to choose a satin pillowcase. This is a lot softer.

Please note: satin is a way of weaving, not a fabric! So there is also cotton satin. Find out for yourself which type of satin you like. For example, there is also polyester satin or even silk satin.

Added bonus: a satin pillowcase also reduces pimples! Two birds with one stone!

Bonnet

A bonnet is a kind of satin nightcap. This protects your hair, just like a satin pillowcase, against tangles and moisture loss. Slightly less charming than a satin pillowcase, but effective.

Brushes

Definitely a must have!

Denman brush

The Denman brush is a brush that is present in many bathrooms of curlies. There are different types of this brush, but they have a number of advantages in common: Due to the semi-circular shape of the brush, you can easily create the right shape in your curls. In addition, there are no balls on the ends of the brush, so that your hair cannot get caught behind it and therefore get damaged. You can remove rows from the brush, so that it is a suitable brush for almost every curl type.

The most commonly used Denman brushes are:

Denman Brush D3 : This is a styling brush, so not necessarily suitable for detangling! This brush is suitable for most curl types. Are you curious about how to use the brush best? There are many videos on YouTube! You can quickly buy this brush at: Denman brush D3

Denman Brush D4 : Do you have thicker and/or longer hair? Then choose the D4 brush. This brush has more rows than the D3.

Denman Brush D13 and D14 : These variants of the Denman are really to detangle your curls well. Use these brushes in combination with a good conditioner to detangle your hair without breaking the hair.

Denman D6 be-bop: This is a massage brush from Denman. You use this brush to massage your shampoo in, for example. The massage brush stimulates your hair growth.

Behairful brush

Are you looking for the brush to detangle and style your hair? Then definitely consider the Behairful brush! This brush is known for getting through all the tangles and for providing defined curls full of shine. Experience has shown that the brush can feel a bit hard on the scalp.

Tangle teezer

The Tangle teezer is also a commonly used brush to detangle your curls. Because there are no balls on the pins and the pins are slightly springy, you prevent your hair from tearing while detangling. Another advantage of the Tangle teezer is that they are often available at the drugstore.

Afro comb

The afro comb or afro pick is a comb with thick pins that are quite far apart. You use this comb when you want to create more volume in your curly hairstyle. You “fluff” more volume in your hairstyle, as it were.

Edge brush

Do you suffer from baby hairs that stick out in all directions except the one you want? Then an edge brush might be something for you. This brush is a bit like a toothbrush, but tames your baby hairs so that you no longer have to deal with them.

Massage Brush

This brush is a must-have for every curly girl! This brush helps distribute shampoo to every part of the scalp for a deeper cleanse. It also helps reduce dandruff and removes dirt and any other build-up (product residue) from your scalp. You can order this tool here: Scalp massage Brush

Elastics and other accessories

Invisibobble

Invisibobble is a brand known for hair accessories that do not leave a “print” in your hair. So no kink in your curls when you have had an elastic in, for example. We list a number of items from this brand for you:

Invisibobble Bunstar : This spiral tool is ideal for making a bun of your hair. It has no sharp edges, which makes it very user-friendly. You twist this tool in your hair and your bun stays in place perfectly all day long.

Invisibobble Hairhalo : Do you want to keep your hair out of your face, but don't feel like wearing it all the way up? Then this headband is a good solution. The headband is somewhat flexible, so it can be adjusted to the shape of your head.

Invisibobble elastic: These “telephone cord” elastics ensure that you do not see any bumps or kinks in your hair when you have worn this elastic. Many curlies also use these elastics without getting a headache afterwards!

Invisibobble Sprunchie: This is the scrunchie variant of Invisibobble! A scrunchie ensures that your hair is tied together, but not damaged. Ideal and completely hip again!

Invisibobble Waver: Do you want to put your hair up a bit? Then these bobby pins might be the perfect option for you! Your hair stays in place without damaging it. They are also easy to remove from your hair. Curious?

The Puff Cuff: is a round hairpin with which you can easily secure your hair in a ponytail. The Puff Cuff comes in different sizes, so that there is a suitable puff cuff for every hair type.

Zazzy band

The zazzy band is a headband that feels like you have sunglasses in your hair. It ensures that your hair is loosely in the headband, but still stays out of your face. The Zazzy band is available in different colors. Definitely worth trying!

Other

There are a few more handy tools that can make styling and caring for your curls a little easier. We've listed them for you:

Root Clips

Root clips can be used in different ways. For example, you can use these clips to secure parts of your hair while styling. By securing a part of your hair, you can more easily distribute products over certain parts of your hair. This way, you can be sure that all your curls get enough product for a good hair day.

You can also use root clips to create volume. Apply the root clips to the parts where you want to create volume. Then you can diffuse your hair. You will see that more volume has been created in your curls. Order them HERE!

Microfiber towel

A “normal” towel can be too rough for your curls, causing frizz. Of course, we don’t want that as curlies. Therefore, use a microfiber towel to dry your hair. In addition to drying your hair, a microfiber towel is also nice to use when you want to remove the cast from your hair. Shop them here!

Spray bottle

A water sprayer is often used during a refresh. With such a sprayer you make your hair wet enough to refresh, but your hair is not immediately soaked. Ideal for a quick refresh! Tip: Mix water and a little leave in in your spray bottle for your refresh. We have a small (also easy to take with you) spray bottle: Shop HERE!

Heatcap

A heat cap is a kind of cap filled with linseed. You heat this cap in the microwave. The heat of the heat cap ensures that your hair scales open up further. This allows your hair to absorb the deepco or oil even better.
