Oil

Oil is a product that you can use in different ways in your CG routine. But how do you know which oil is most suitable for your hair? You will find out in this blog. We will take you through the different ways in which you can use oil and what types of oil there are.

OIL AS PRE POO

A pre poo is applying oil to the scalp before you start your washing routine. You can do a pre poo to stimulate your hair growth or to nourish your scalp extra if you have a dry scalp, for example. You let the oil soak in, after which you can simply continue your washing routine as you are used to.

OIL DURING REFRESH

Do you notice that your hair is more frizzy on a refresh day than on your wash day? Then apply a drop of oil to your hands, distribute it over your hands by rubbing your hands together and “pet” your hair as it were. This provides shine and less frizz. Be careful not to apply oil too close to the scalp. This can cause a greasy scalp and that is exactly what you don’t want on a refresh day!

OIL MIXED WITH YOUR DEEPCO

Do you feel like your hair deserves that little bit of extra love? Mix a drop of oil through your deepco. This will give your hair that extra boost it may need.

OIL TO SQUEEZE OUT THE CAST

When there is a hard layer around your curls because of the gel that has hardened (also called cast), it is time to scrunch it out. You can do this with a drop of oil on your hands. This provides extra shine and beautiful curls.
Now that you know the ways you can incorporate oil into your routine, it’s time to look at the different oils. Which oil has which function? We’ll take you through different options:

ALMOND OIL

This is a light oil that works both as a moisturizer and a sealant. This means that it nourishes your hair, but also forms a protective layer around your hair, making it well protected. Almond oil is known to make your hair healthier and thicker.

ARGAN OIL

Argan oil comes from Morocco and is a relatively light oil. This oil is also hydrating and sealing. Because this oil forms a protective layer around your hair, it breaks less quickly and your hair gets a beautiful shine.

AVOCADO OIL

This is a relatively heavy oil that is mainly moisturizing. Do you have dry and damaged hair? Then definitely look at avocado oil. Avocado oil also works well if you have a very dry scalp or dandruff.

CASTOR OIL

Castor oil is one of the heaviest oils for your hair. It is a thick, viscous substance that is somewhat difficult to distribute through the hair. This oil stimulates hair growth and hydrates. This oil is especially suitable for use as a pre-poo. Due to the thickness of the oil, it is not advisable to use it to knead the cast out of your hair. This can weigh your hair down and make it greasier.

GRAPE SEED OIL

Grape seed oil is a relatively light oil that hydrates and therefore works well against frizz. In addition, curlies use this oil when they suffer from dandruff, many have already benefited greatly from it. Do you have dandruff? Then this oil is definitely worth a try. Finally, this oil ensures beautiful, shiny curls.

COCONUT OIL

Although not everyone reacts well to coconut in hair products, coconut oil can be a great way to pamper your hair. It is a relatively light oil that hydrates your hair well and also contains a natural SPF factor. Ideal for the summer months with (hopefully) lots of sun!

VITAMIN E OIL

Vitamin E oil is used by many curlies against an itchy scalp. It is a nourishing oil that also protects against UV, so ideal for use in the summer months. In addition, vitamin E oil is hydrating and is not a heavy oil. Also suitable for waves.
